New TiVo Online Services
Whoa! Has anyone with TiVo received the new TiVo services?!?! I must have gotten mine sometime late last night or today. I just went to my "Music, photos and more" menu and--viola--all new content! Here what my menu looks like now and my first takes:
- Yahoo! Photos
- Useful...I guess. I already have my photos on my computer.
- Yahoo! Weather
- Handier than the Weather Channel or the stupid local news.
- Yahoo! Traffic
- Could be useful some morning.
- Browse and Buy Movie Tickets
- Live365
- Suprised by the suckiness of the station selection.
- Most stations are broadcasting their current selection.
- Podcaster
- Very kewl. Tons of content...NPR, BBC, CNet.
- Offers ability to enter your own URL.
- Idol Speculation
- Lame. Only losers will use this.
- SameGame
- Should call it the LameGame. Why couldn't they have offered solitaire instead?
- Wordsmith
- For intellectuals with too much time on their hands.
- Skull & Bones
- Might entertain your 4-year-old.
The Nikkon Legends menu item is still present as are the options for the photos and music on my computer. The Podcasting appears to allow you to download from any URL but I haven't tried it yet. I'm off to play around with it.
The games are a letdown. Why couldn't they throw in a few staples like Tetris or solitaire or maybe pinball? Also, how hard would it have been to let me download games. Whatever.
ps. My software version shows 7.2.1a. That seems kind of odd because it was 7.1 or 7.2 already. I would have thought these new features would have meant an upgrade.
