This free service from Ganet is actually kinda handy in a pinch. You can get Yellow Page info, sports scores, movie times, weather, flight info and several other items sent to your phone -- free. You just text to "4INFO", tell it what you want and back comes the information.
Example: Business Type + Zip Code ("PIZZA 85016") gives me the NYPD Pizza near my mansion. Or if I know I want NYPD specifically but I don't know where it is, I can text "NYPD phoenix". On the 411 web site you'll find more examples of what you can request as well as additional applications for cell phones and portable computing.
So to recap. I can call 411 and speak to an operator and be charged $2. Or I can text and have the information sent to me immediately for free. Seems like a no brainer. Question. Has anyone tried this service in other states? Just curious if it's the same.
