TiVo Green Screen of Death (GSD)

Ohmygosh! I thought I was going to pass out. Last weekend I turned on my TV and saw the dreaded GSD. Did you know there was a GSD??? I did not. I ran over to Yahoo to learn what I could about the Tivo Green Screen of Death:

TiVo Green Screen of Death

It probably means my hard drive is slowly dying :( Note to self: call TiVo customer support and find out if I/they can replace my hard drive.

Anyhoo, after I was done freaking out* I did just what the screen said; turned off my TV and waited. I spent the rest of the afternoon playing XBox meditating. Then, about four hours later -- I turned on the TV and...and -- ta-daa! TiVo had survived baby! It had performed dangerous surgery on itself and was healed. Nice! Now I can still watch all those Lawrence Welk reruns I've been saving up.

* Seriously, I really did freak out a bit. You see I bought my Series 2 TiVo when they were still selling the lifetime service subscription option. My machine is grandfathered. No monthly fees -- ever. New machines require a monthly subscription package in order to reap the full benefits of TiVo.
