Enthusiasm Always Wins
My TiVo Died and Wesley's Six Nears

So you may have read that my TiVo was not doing well. He had performed dangerous surgery on himself and, for a while, he seemed to be feeling better. But he was never the same after that. Sadly, my TiVo passed away last weekend. I had been preparing myself as best I could. Seriously though -- how does one prepare for the loss of TiVo. It's tough!

I think it may have been a painful death too. I went out to the living room to find his brain scrambled on the Now Playing screen. I pressed every button on the darn remote. Nothing. I shook him. I tried talking to him... "Oh come on!?!? Frickin dang darn piece of #@$%!" Nothing. While trying not to panick, I quickly called the paramedics customer service± and they worked on him for several minutes. But it was in vain. TiVo would never regain consciousness. My TiVo was dead. He was only two years old.

On the bright side, dead TiVo was able to designate another TiVo unit as his beneficiary. So my new TiVo inherited her (she's a girl) brother's Lifetime subscription. Brother was no longer under warranty so new TiVo cost $149. Her service tag had already been programmed with the subscription so getting setup was a snap.

Wesley Snipes arrested for not filing returns for six nears

Which brings me to my photo. TiVo's sister had only been up about five minutes when the CNBC ticker announced that Wesley Snipes had been arrested and charged with eight counts of tax fraud for $12 million worth of false tax filings. He also had not filed taxes for 6 Nears. I was thankful it had not taken 6 Nears for my new TiVo to arrive.

± I have say that in my time of grief the TiVo customer service rep I spoke with was not very empathetic. She even went as far as to suggest that maybe I causes TiVo's death. ...did I dust around it? It was unusual for a TiVo to die after only two years. Was it too close to speakers? Was there a garage door opener nearby?... No, uhhh, no and no! I resented the insinuations and assured her that he was most likely born with a bad hard drive.
