Enthusiasm Always Wins
Roger Clemens, 44 Years Young

I am always on the lookout for inspiration. I pretty much live the same life day-to-day and I think it is easy to numb out in the daily routine. To counter this, each day I try to be mindful of how I am living. There are two practices I can think of that help me keep from becoming complacent, or worse, slipping into dull torpor.

  1. I try think positively, always (which is why I never watch TV news).
  2. I keep an eye open for stories of inspiration that I can use as motivation.

When I read or see something that inspires me I will often cut it out and paste it on my kitchen or office wall. When I see an image that kicks me in the ass -- I save it. Motivation is a key factor in acheiving goals. Unfortunately our sources of motivation can wear off. So my recommendation today is to never stop collecting little treasures that remind you to keep playing to win and have fun, in everything you do.

At age 44 Roger Clemens signs contract to pitch for one year.

Today I almost choked on my gin and tonic when Roger Clemens announced that he is coming out of retirement. 44-year-old Roger has agreed to a one-year $28 million contract to pitch with the New York Yankees.

Now I know as you read this you may also have spit out your G&T. $28 million! Nice paycheck. However, it is the other number that gave me an instant charge. Forty Four! Roger is 44-years-old and able to compete with the best players in the world. It does not matter what team I like. This guy is a winner. I think he must have amazing personal strength.

It is a flippin' kewl story and it will be my motivation this week to eat well, workout hard and get into bed by 8:30pm. Yiieee!
